Backbone Food Farm

Backbone Food Farm is a small diversified family farm located in Pleasant Valley, MD. We have been working on our goals of building soil fertility naturally, and providing healthy food for our community for 16 years. Our eclectic operation focuses on Certified Naturally Grown produce, but also includes berries, pasture raised all natural pork, and gourmet and medicinal mushrooms.

We are happy to offer our products through our CSA, since 1999, and at local foods markets and Farmers Markets in the area. Our CSA serves Garrett and Allegany counties in Maryland, and Tucker and Preston counties in West Virginia. Our 20 week CSA season features only products we raise on our farm, and selected for top quality, freshness and variety.

We also sell our produce at the Mountain Fresh Farmers Market in Oakland on Wednesday and Saturdays in season.

We want to share our knowledge of natural farming and ecology with others, and will provide educational workshops, tours and programs upon request. Please give us a call or send an email to discuss the possibilities!
